Moneda Moves (99): Event TODAY: The State of Hispanic Small Businesses Rebuilding
Buen dia, mi gente. I hope your summers are off to a hopeful start. We are hosting an event today alongside Wells Fargo and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) today, and I’d love for you to be a part.
💵As we head into the summer of reopening, the US is open for business. But we know the positive recovery effects on the economy are not felt equally across the board. Where do Latinx business owners stand and what solutions and resources are being set in place en route to recovery?
This is a story to watch and one we are tracking via our Moneda Moves podcast. 📣
TODAY at 1 PM ET, mi gente, join us as a part of the annual NAHJ conference with leaders at Wells Fargo, Latino Donor Collaborative and The US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to discuss exactly how different groups within the Latinx community were impacted by the pandemic, PPP loans and ongoing ripple effects as community businesses reopen.
Read more about the event below:
The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined what is “normal.” In 2020, small businesses were hit especially hard, and diverse communities were disproportionately impacted. With the world now reopening, there is a lingering feeling of uncertainty among small business owners as they try to rebuild. However, data and research show the optimism and perseverance of Hispanic and Latino business owners has historically driven economic recovery.
Wells Fargo’s Head of Small Business Growth Philanthropy Jenny Flores will join Ana Valdez of the Latino Donor Collaborative and Ramiro Cavazos of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in a panel discussion moderated by Lyanne Alfaro, host and creator of Moneda Moves, an online platform with the mission to share stories about Latinos and money in the US. Alfaro is also a supervising producer at Nasdaq.
These leaders will discuss the current state of Hispanic small businesses post-pandemic, the impact small businesses have on the national economy and how they can move forward confidently.
No te lo quieres perder. Hope to see you there.
Con poder,
Lyanne
