There's a new digital marketplace in town and it's the first of its kind curating all Latinx-owned businesses for your holiday purchase needs. Shop Latinx opened its doors on November 20 and we couldn't be more excited to check out all these jefes y jefas making a splash on the website and put our money where our mouth is to support local businesses. Who says Small Business Saturday can't be year-round?

Duolingo becomes the first VC-funded $1 billion Pittsburgh tech start-up💸: At the helm is Guatemalan entrepreneur Luis von Ahn. Odds are you've probably come across his work even if you haven't used Duolingo. He's also a founder of the cyber-security system CAPTCHA which helps you verify you are indeed "not a robot" online and was named a MacArthur Fellow when he received a "Genius Grant." The story comes from CNBC's Jacob Douglas who writes that Duolingo is now the most-downloaded education app in the world.

Meet the founder of Shop Latinx, which is empowering creators on its platform🛍️: Her name Brittany Chavez, and this platform has been a few years in the making. Chavez launched an Instagram account by the same name in 2016 which grew an active community of now nearly 40,000 followers and caught the attention of the likes of celebrities like Zoe Saldana and Jessica Alba. The new website design allows customers to browse creators selling art to candles and skincare products and growing. The story comes from Kim Hoyos and is published in The Mujerista.
