Moneda Moves (144): The Business Behind Building A Trailblazing Latina Network | We All Grow Founder Ana Flores
Four years ago, I jet-set to one of my first community-based summits taking place in California: the We All Grow Latina Summit. This event was very different from my usual lineup of industry-based conferences. For one, I was attending as a volunteer to meet the team. But, truly what excited me were the people who were on the attendee list: Latina creatives, writers, and entrepreneurs building in real time. This summit was such a unique opportunity to meet Latina builders in person who had been sharing their work on social media and years later have gone on to create immense impact in their respective communities. Many are mujeres I still follow or keep in touch with today.
In today’s new episode of Moneda Moves, I revisit my experience at We All Grow by speaking with founder and Co-CEO Ana Flores about what it takes to build a community-driven business. We All Grow is a digital and IRL lifestyle community of impactful Latinas and Femme-Latines who support and uplift each other. Their goal? To increase visibility and grow our social and economic power.
The community started in 2010 and since then has grown into a following of 253K and counting on Instagram and bringing people together in person from their Las Founders events out west to their annual summit which just made a return this year. We speak with Ana about We All Grow’s story, building the right team, turning a profit and the nonlinear story of building.
Take a listen the conversation here. I can assure you you’ll learn something new about building a mission-driven company. I know I did.
In the meantime, mi gente, enjoy time with your family and loved ones over the holidays these next few weeks. We will see you back here for a new episode and headlines in December.
Con poder,
Lyanne
Headlines to put on your radar.
Meet the entrepreneurs behind We All Grow Latina: Listened to the Moneda Moves episode and want to learn more about the team? Founder Ana Flores and Co-CEO Vanessa Santos were recently featured in TODAY about what their journey has looked like together as business partners and what being “ready to launch” looked like for them.
Hint: There was no perfect time to launch.
As Ana told the publication:
“We’ve always had great ideas, and we’ve always had the want and the know-how to do things. We just haven’t had the right funding, the right network and right opportunity, the right sponsorships, etc, to get it to that level.”
What holds back Latinos from using their economic power: A recent article from Al Día explores reasons why Latinos might not exercise their economic power which, as explored in this newsletter now stands at more than $2 trillion in GDP. Big issues for Latinos in this regard are: the economic impact on the community in the aftermath of COVID-19, wages, promotion to C-suite positions and funding to scale their existing companies. You can read more about the report here.
