Moneda Moves (140): Join Us At One of the Biggest Latino Money Events in the Country
This week, we are journeying to one of the biggest conferences in the country all about Latinos and money, mi gente. Yes, we’re talking about L’ATTITUDE — and if you’re there we’d love to meet you. But if you’re not able to join us, we plan to bring you plenty of coverage from the floor via Moneda Moves and a few incoming surprise outlets. Más por venir!
From the event, we are proud to announce Moneda Moves will be joining as moderators and leading conversations on the creator economy with TikTok celebrity Leo González, discussing venture capital with Scentbird co-founder Rachel ten Brink, and opportunities in the blockchain with the founders of Web3 Familia.
The reason we appreciate this conference so much is because it really is making an effort to not only influence the narrative around Latinos for the better as owners of businesses, entrepreneurial minds, and culture shifters, but also connect the dots to forge solutions on our path forward. We are the 8th largest economy in the world and among the biggest generators of business and contribution $800 billion to the American economy annually. It’s time that the narrative of our community changes from just “a minority” to a powerful force that is worth investing in.
L’ATTITUDE drives this story forward while also bringing power players in business across all industries to discuss next steps. I’ll stress that this is incredibly important: Seldom do we have spaces where we can converge to have meaningful business conversations with not just the money holders, but also a diverse set of sectors from politics, to healthcare, fintech and media. This conference is bringing big names from all corners of the business and entrepreneurial world to share expertise and talk about driving the Latino cohort forward. With heavy hitting speakers on the list this year like former president Barack Obama, Her Ladyship Cristina Jarero Penichet, and former CEO of United Airlines Oscar Munoz, we are set for what will be revealing conversations around celebrating and pushing forward Latino progress in the US economy.
In the meantime, follow @monedamoves closely to stay tuned to updates.
Con poder,
Lyanne
Headlines to put on your radar.
🎙Meet Cheryl Campos, Model & Venture Capitalist: We’re shouting out a leader in the money space breaking out of boxes and serving her community. As a model and venture capitalist, Cheryl Campos has touched many different professional spaces—spaces that, at first glance, might seem diametrically opposed to one another. But to her, there is one thing that unites the many varied aspects of her career: her determination to do whatever she sets her mind to.
”People want you to do one thing,” she says. “And that’s frustrating. I want to be the person that does it all.”
Congratulations on your first week at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Cheryl! And on reaching your recent personal goal: paying off your family’s first home. 💪🏽
Financial Professionals Share Out How They Build Wealth: From buying assets, to investing in the stock market, buying real estate or opening a business, some of our favorite personal finance experts share their preferred ways to build wealth with NerdWallet. At the same time they stress, as Yanely Espinal did, that building wealth takes time and requires consistency building “poco a poco.” This week, Penny Hoarder also put together a list of Latinx money finance experts to follow which you can find here.
